Liam Griffin, LMFT-A
Hello, I’m Liam Griffin, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate at Life Coaching and Therapy. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, overthinking, self-criticism, identity exploration, and relationship challenges, as well as couples experiencing communication, intimacy, or connection concerns.
I’m passionate about creating a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely seen and supported. I am gender-affirming and kink-positive, with experience working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, people in both monogamous and consensually non-monogamous relationships, and members of the kink community. I also work with many individuals and couples who want to improve their sex lives, strengthen emotional and physical intimacy, or develop healthier communication patterns.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative, client-centered, and trauma-informed, drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while integrating Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Narrative Therapy. Together, we’ll explore the patterns that keep you feeling stuck – whether that’s anxious thought loops, harsh self-criticism, navigating major life transitions, healing from trauma, or recurring relationship dynamics. Therapy with me is structured, practical, and tailored to your goals, helping you build insight, develop effective coping strategies, and work collaboratively to create meaningful change both in and between sessions.
I became a therapist because I’ve experienced firsthand how powerful it can be to have a supportive space to process life’s challenges and grow. That experience inspired me to help others access the same opportunity for healing. I’m continually inspired by the courage my clients bring to therapy and feel honored to walk alongside them as they build resilience, gain clarity, strengthen their relationships, and create lives that feel more grounded, authentic, and connected.
I provide in-person sessions in West Hartford, CT, as well as virtual therapy throughout Connecticut. I accept Cigna and Husky insurance and offer sliding scale fees when needed. If you’re looking for a collaborative, affirming, and skill-based approach to working through anxiety, depression, trauma, identity, sexuality, or relationship concerns, I’d love to connect and see if we’re a good fit.
