Aron Edmunds, MFT Intern
Hey y’all! My name is Aron Edmunds (they/he pronouns) and I’m a marriage and family therapy intern studying at Southern Connecticut State University. With so many therapists to choose from, I thank you for taking the time to read a bit about me to see if I might be the right fit at this stage of your journey.
Quick facts about me: I’m a white, AFAB (assigned-female-at-birth), transmasculine person interested in dismantling systems of oppression through networks of care, kindness, and on-the-ground transformation. Let’s be real, the world is tough right now.
It feels like so much is shifting beneath our feet with little time to reflect, integrate, and respond from our most centered, loving selves. By starting with ourselves and those closest to us (family, chosen family, our various networks of kin), I believe we can transform the larger social systems in which we live through a bottom-up approach that centers connection, care, and community as the linchpins of social change.
First and foremost, I believe therapy is about liberation, and I am dedicated to applying an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and identity-affirming framework to my practice.
That being said — who you are matters. How you identify matters. What you’ve been through matters.
You may be someone who feels stuck or weighed down, like there’s something you can’t quite shake. You may be a person with a trauma history, impacted by systemic oppression like anti-black racism, ableism, queerphobia, financial insecurity, or toxic spiritual beliefs. You may be a couple, throuple, parent-child dyad, or friend pair locked in conflict and looking to ease relational tension.
Whoever you are, whatever you’ve been through, I consider it a great honor to learn with you and from you as we co-create a space to uproot the emotional blocks obstructing your path to joy-filled connections.
When I’m not working or at school, you can find me doing anything and everything outside – hiking, backpacking, beach lounging – you name it! Currently, I side-hustle as a personal trainer and fitness instructor, working to dismantle the patriarchy within one of the most masc-centered, “yikes!” environments known to humanity – the gym.
